Species: Human mage
History:
Khadgar was 6 years old when his family gave him to the Kirin Tor to bring them honor and revealed that he had several brothers and sisters. Because he was given to the Kirin Tor, he was raised in the floating city of Dalaran and trained as a mage (eventually had the Kirin Tor eye branded on his left forearm, presumably when he was eleven if implications in the novelization are taken into account.) Some time into his training, Khadgar was selected to be the Guardian Novitiate (Guardian-in-training basically.) The novelization implies the brand was part of his selection. In time, Khadgar developed his own opinion regarding the Kirin Tor and the Guardian, he didn't agree with the Archmages that the Guardian is responsible for protecting Azeroth, instead believing that all the Kirin Tor should protect it as well so he renounced his vows and left. (Implied that renouncing his vow makes him a fugitive.)
After renouncing his vow, Khadgar wandered Alliance territories until the Horde invaded, not really hiding but not advertising that he was a runaway Kirin Tor mage. When the Horde came from Draenor though and started attacking Alliance lands, Khadgar sensed the Fel ("when it's strong, it almost has a smell") and investigated an Alliance garrison that was attacked. He was practically arrested but convinced Lothar to let him finish investigating the body across from the room he was locked in and found Fel, causing him to promptly urge then to summon the Guardian for a proper explanation. He was rushed to Goldshire where he, again, urged that they summon the Guardian and King Llane did just that.
He, unfortunately, got dragged to Karazhan with Lothar to get Medivh's help. While left alone with a ton of books, Khadgar spotted a strange spirit, which he promptly went to investigate. The spirit vanished but it left a hint in his Kirin Tor brand, which glowed when he pointed it toward the books on the shelf until he found the right one. Shortly after tucking the book into his bag, he gets confronted by the Guardian and thrown around before getting out why they came, and again is forced to tag along when they return to Stormwind and decide to go and capture an orc.
While investigating a Fel infected tree, the group was attacked by orcs. Khadgar reacted by throwing up a shield around himself and Medivh. When Medivh caught on to what was happening, he cast a spell that sucked the Fel, and the life, out of green orcs before retreating back to Karazhan. While all the soldiers run off to catch one of the fleeing orcs, Khadgar studied a body and managed to capture Garona. From then on, Khadgar spent his free time studying the book he stole and making notes/copying pages. Eventually, Llane convinced Garona to lead them to where the orcs were encamped and he took the first watch at their first camp, revealing to Garona and Lothar that he was given to the Kirin Tor when he was 6 and hadn't seen his siblings since, that it brings a family honor and less so when that child runs away.
As they spied on the orcs, they were snuck up on by Durotan who knocked Lothar out and was held by Durotan (with his hand covering most of Khadgar's face) while he talked to Garona. When he was done, he released him with a friendly nudge, though he cried a little while Durotan is covering his mouth after having seen orcs capable of crushing a mans hand with one hand. Llane agreed to the meeting with Durotan, and Khadgar went back to his room to find Medivh looking through his things and get angry at Khadgar for the research, burning all but one page he had hidden in his robes
After the failed meeting, in which orcs not from among the Frostwolves attacked both sides, they found Medivh passed out on the top of the cliff where he cast a massive lightning shield between both factions. Khadgar and Garona took him back to Karazhan. In order to help him, they did as Moroes said and put him in the font which was when Khadgar saw Fel in Medivh's eyes. He immediately went to Dalaran to address the Kirin Tor. While there, he asked about the Dark Portal and Alodi, the questioning of the two subjects so close together alarming the Archmages so Antonidas took him to meet Alodi who turned out to be the one who guided him to the book and she told him how to defeat Medivh and the demon that possessed him.
Khadgar returned to Stormwind and broke Lothar out of a cell so they could kill Medivh. The Guardian/demon was prepared to be interrupted and casually threw them around, bringing a golem to life to take care of them. Lothar manages to remove the golems head while Khadgar was unconscious and then woke him, the young mage coming up with a plan to teleport the golem, telling Lothar to get Medivh into the font while he gets ready. He just barely managed to get the golem into the spot he wrote his teleportation spell at and dropped it, and himself, on top of Medivh. Despite being poisoned by Fel himself in that moment, he managed to throw a shield around Lothar in case it corrupted him before ripping the Fel and the demon out of Medivh and banishing the Fel entirely.
Unfortunately, none of this was fast enough to prevent more orcs (but not all) from entering Azeroth and to keep Llane from dying. After Llane's funeral, Khadgar refused to return to the Kirin Tor when invited by Antonidas and refused to believe Garona intentionally betrayed Llane and the Alliance. He did, however, encourage Lothar to take up Llane's sword to defend the Alliance.
Personality:
Khadgar is still very young, very inexperienced in most of what the world has to offer. Despite that though, he's very good at reading people and seeing what good is in them. He's very observant, noticing the Fel in Medivh and seeking help immediately, willing to go to great lengths to protect Azeroth and its people.
He's incredibly curious, always looking to learn new things and seeming incapable of resisting when a wealth of knowledge is set in front of him. And this curiosity, his willingness to learn, it serves him in helping his companions and protecting his world. Being the former Guardian Novitiate, Khadgar was good at learning and understanding, a trait that stand out when he steals a book from Medivh's library and makes a number of precise copies and notes, developing theories and slowly understanding the threat.
Despite being raised by the Kirin Tor, being trained with the intention of becoming the Guardian, Khadgar developed enough of a mindset that he realized that defending Azeroth was not a job for any single person. This belief and their unwillingness to at least understand forbidden magic, like the Fel, set Khadgar at odds with the Archmages, some of who already disliked him. And even though he was expected to take on so great a mantle, he never developed an ego, never believed himself better than others considering his skill.
He even showed himself to be incredibly honest, not denying that he had left the Kirin Tor when questioned on being a fugitive. And he doesn't allow any one person to convince him of certain things, letting his own opinions and experiences with people color his beliefs. And this all shows, Khadgar is very open with his feelings but also very stubborn. He's easy to read but very few will change his mind when that affects his choices.
Khadgar is also an incredibly good person. He is potentially a fugitive, he could get into a lot of trouble, especially after sneaking into one of Lothar's garrisons, but the fact that something evil had settled there drove him and he couldn't ignore it. If he had a chance of helping people, save lives, it was worth it. And this, in part, shows how good a Guardian he might have been but seems to do more good by having broken away. It also shows how brave he is, sneaking into the royal barracks and not arguing being brought along to deal with orcs and the Fel, not ignoring the threat either pose.
Several time, he displays a bit of sass and quick wit, mouthing off to Lothar. Such as when they are going to find the orc encampment ("Bookworm. Take the first watch." "Respectfully, Commander, my name is Khadgar.") Also, thanks to his canon point, he's also much more confident. Prior to this point, he knew he was a good mage, even one of the best because he'd been chosen to succeed Medivh, but until he killed the Guardian and the demon that possessed him, he wasn't sure he'd even be a match.
Lastly, despite his ability to adapt, all of the Archmages who would have raised Khadgar since he parents gave him to the Kirin Tor are much older and several dislike him, meaning he likely didn't get much affection while growing up. Which will make it awkward for him in general since he's never shown giving, or being given, affection throughout the film. Even to the point that he gets flustered when Garona suggests he wishes to "lie with [her]."

[He isn't wearing the jumpsuit for the ship, sticking instead to his normal clothes and cloak from Azeroth. He looks a little frazzled. Mostly because this sort of technology is far outside his comfort level.]
So... anyone from Azeroth here?
I- ah- I'm Khadgar. Formerly of the Kirin Tor, I'm a mage.
I actually need help. [holds up burned food.] Anyone have anything on cooking lessons? I'm good with magic, not so much cooking.
